FEEDING

All quail can be fed a diet of mixed small millets, laying pellets / chick crumbs, spray millet, wholemeal bread, green foods (i.e. lettuce, dandelion etc once or twice per week), egg food or hard-boiled egg crushed up with their shells. Small grit, oyster shell or crushed up cooked chicken eggs should be supplied. Mixed corn can be given to the larger quail e.g. bob-white etc. Roul Roul's need a more specialised diet. This can include insectervorous mixture, currants, apple (finely diced), all of the above, also honey can be mixed with warm water and given to the birds (which they love!). Roul Roul's are also partial to meal worms, wax worms and crickets. Cuttlefish should be given to all quail, partridge etc at all times to supplement the laying hens. Vitamins and liquid calcium can be added to their drinking water once or twice per week. If quail are kept on soil in outside flights etc, they should be wormed at least once per year.
