QUAIL - JAPANESE
Latin name - Coturnix Japonica
Approximate size - 5½ - 6 inches
Incubation length - 17 days
Main characteristics:-
* These are easy to sex in their normal colouring
* Male - chestnut colouring around chest with no spots
* Female - brown spots on chest
* Excellent egg layers
* Not very loud
* Can be kept in colonies with a ratio of 1 male - 3 females
* Many mutation and combination of colours available
* We currently have rare mutations from the continent
* Can give off a high ammonia content in their droppings
* Can vary in weight 6 ozs - 8 ozs
