Main characteristics:-
* Superb looking birds!
* Sexes are easily distinguished from an early age
* Male - jet black body, brown chest, red legs, red eye rim
* Female - green and brown body, blackhead
* Eggs are especially large for the size of the bird
* Quiet birds
* Can be bred in large aviary with 3 pairs etc
* Need to be careful with chicks if you use japanese for feeders as the roul roul may attack them
* Need a more specialised diet than other quail - more fruit and insects should be added
* Quite plentiful in captivity
